About

This programme of study is very much designed to focus on developing the apprentice's skills in occupational health and safety, enabling assessment and evaluation of risks based on sound scientific and evidenced practice.

​

Assignments are built around practical exercises and outputs that the apprentice will need to provide in the field of work, including management reports and accident appraisals. The apprentice will develop an informed, critical and imaginative attitude towards professional practice and provide them with transferable skills and competence in their chosen field.

​

A critical component of the award is the development of their communication skills using a variety of media to specialist, senior executives and non-specialist persons on matters pertaining to occupational safety and health.

Course Overview

As well as gaining an in-depth knowledge of the subject, the apprentice will also gain the ability to investigate occupational safety and health in a range of contexts and apply their knowledge of environmental health stressors to solve complex problems in the workplace.

They will be able to interpret data and design novel solutions to occupational safety and health issues, as well as inspections and compliance audits. The apprentice will also gain effective communication skills in occupational safety and health settings and develop research strategies and critical writing skills.
